Jhené Aiko has shared a photo of her home burning in the Los Angeles fires.

The 36-year-old singer shared the snap on her Instagram Stories Sunday, Jan. 12, showing the back of her house appearing to be engulfed in flames as smoke polluted the air.

“A neighbor sent this picture of our home while we were out of town and supposed to be coming back the same day,” she wrote, noting in addition, “This was my home for all you misinformed blogs posting a different house.”

Aiko’s Sunday post came after she revealed that her property had been destroyed following the series of wildfires that began in Southern California last week, and after she took to the comment section of a post on The Neighborhood Talk‘s Instagram account to shut down critics.

“With all due respect. So many of you are loud and wrong. I worked very hard … for many years, through a lot of pain … to provide my children with this house,” the songwriter wrote. “I put everything into it. Praying none of you ever experience this.”

On Thursday, the star revealed that she and her children — 2-year-old son Noah, whom she shares with longtime love Big Sean, and 16-year-old daughter Namiko “Nami” — were safe, despite their home being destroyed.

“Praying for everyone this morning,” Aiko wrote on Instagram. “Those who lost their home, those who lost their life’s work, those who lost their life. praying for my city. praying for the wild life and lost pets. praying for the world 💙.”

She continued, “Let suffering be a gift; a lesson in compassion.”

A second slide then read, “Burned to the ground with all of our things inside. Lord have mercy 🙏 Thankful we still have each other 💙 Starting from scratch. My heart is so heavy 💔.”

Meanwhile, on Sunday, Aiko shared an emotional write up that reflected on grief and surrendering.

“In gratitude always!,” the message read. “It seems silly to mourn material things, but when these things are connected to precious memories, it is heavy.”

The passage added that while grief is challenging, possessions are an illusion, as “nothing ever truly belongs to us.”

“To lose, to suffer, to feel … is to be alive,” the quote continued. “To live is the greatest gift.”
